SCARBOROUGH THE OBSESSIVE CHARDONNAY 2013 $40

HE SAID: If the name's not familiar, it's the old White Label - only a touch more selective. It will only be made in good years and if this is an indication of what's to come – yeehah! It's delicious. Sweet, ripe peach and stonefruit, some slatey grapefruit acid, creamy on the tongue, Beautifully balanced and delightfully persistent. A stunner.
SHE SAID: I worked in the cellar door at Scarborough part-time when I first moved to the Hunter Valley several years ago so I have a soft spot for their wines, particularly the White Label, which was the premium label back then. In June it morphed into The Obsessive, honouring owner/winemaker Ian Scarborough’s obsession with all things vinous. It’s a big, ripe style of chardy and takes after the Energizer Bunny… the flavour just keeps going on and on and on.
