Wine review

TARRAWARRA ESTATE CHARDONNAY 2012, $25

HE SAID: This is TarraWarra’s Estate chardonnay (formerly Tin Cows if I’m not mistaken), which carries new packaging – it looks good, too. As you’d expect, it isn’t as good as their reserve which is invariably excellent drinking, but for $25 this is pretty sharp all the same. Creamy on the tongue, melons, a bit of nectarine sweetness, subtle spice and integrated oak. Yep, like it.

SHE SAID: My enjoyment of wine is inextricably linked to people and places, and TarraWarra always brings a smile to my face. That’s due to a Yarra Valley visit years ago with RA, a bottle of TarraWarra chardonnay and pinot noir, a spa bath and foam overload. This 2012 chardy will also put a smile on your face as it’s a delicious drop, with ripe stone fruit flavours and discernible oak, which goes down a treat with roast chicken.
